The Golden Pin Design Award was established in Taiwan in 1981 and is now organized by the Taiwan Design Research Institute (TDRI), which manages the award and plans the award ceremony and related activities.
Since 2014, the award has repositioned itself as the "top design award in the global Chinese market," giving the Chinese design industry a voice. Starting in 2015, the Golden Pin Design Award brand introduced three major competitions targeting different audiences: the Golden Pin Design Award, the Golden Pin Concept Design Award, and the Golden Pin New Talent Design Award, all aimed at recognizing outstanding innovative design products and works.
